Physical Therapist Assisting Program Curriculum Requirements

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program prepares the student to perform a variety of therapeutic procedures and training to aid in the rehabilitation of patients. PTAs, under the supervision of a physical therapist, document the patient’s response to treatment.

The increasing need for Physical Therapist Assistants is quite evident. According to the Department of Labor, employment of PTAs is expected to grow faster than the average through the year 2014. The need for the services of PTAs is due to the growing elderly population, their vulnerability to chronic and debilitating conditions, and the need for health and wellness programs under skilled expertise. In addition, the large baby-boomer generation is entering the prime age for heart attack, strokes and diabetes, where physical therapy may be needed.

Upon successful completion of the PTA program, providing all requirements are met, the graduate will receive an Associate of Applied Science Degree (A.A.S.) and will be eligible to sit for the state licensure examination for Physical Therapist Assistants.

Professional Skills Institute takes pride in its comprehensive preparation of its graduates and welcomes those prospective students who are interested in learning more about this challenging and rewarding profession.
